As Compliance and Technical Services Lead for the Freimann Life Science Center, you make a vital connection that translates scientific research to the human experience. While overseeing the care and welfare of laboratory animals used in research and teaching, you train Notre Dame's next generation of researchers on appropriate protocols and ensure necessary compliance.

Overseeing the animal component of Notre Dame life science research projects, the Compliance and Technical Services Lead brings knowledge of a variety of animal species, including their natural behaviors and environmental requirements, as well as animal welfare regulations and federal laws. Your experience includes working with IACUC, AAALAC and USDA. You perform veterinary procedures with animals in a responsible and sensitive manner. You remain current on all aspects of the field of laboratory animal science including new products, updated regulations and advancements in technology.
Additionally, the Compliance and Technical Services Lead manages Freimann Life Science Center staff (registered veterinary technicians) and is responsible for all related compliance and safety matters. You oversee the training of Notre Dame research personnel (faculty, students and staff) and Freimann Life Science Center staff in the handling of animals, and ensure their professional registrations and certifications are in place.
As the title indicates, the Compliance and Technical Services Lead possesses breadth, competence and dexterity in each of these areas.

Excellent communication and attention-to-detail skills required, including ability to communicate with a diverse audience. 5 to 6 years of experience in veterinary technology and compliance. Associate’s degree or up to 3 years of college or technical school in science, animal science, veterinary science or related discipline is required. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred. LATG and RVT certifications required. Experience with IACUC, AAALAC and USDA is also required.
A Bachelor’s degree or experience in a vivarium setting is preferred.
